Our Story
Bobcat Mattress began in the spring of 2008 by the now sole owner Alonzo and his brothers. The brothers and their sister come from an entrepreneurial family and it only seemed fitting that they kept the spirit alive when it came to creating a new business. Alonzo with experience of living through chronic back pain from the age of 20 and having had spent more than he could afford as a college student at MSU on a new mattress knew exactly what business to start in Bozeman where he wanted to call home. Having made a connection in the mattress industry the brothers sold two beds sold out of a back a Chevy truck that spring and so began the journey. Alonzo was taking 21 credits in French and Global Studies degrees from Montana State, dating who now is his beautiful wife and finishing his research project in Mali, Africa was needless to say busy. Instead of paying as much attention as he should have in class he was returning voicemails and taking text messages for mattress appointments and even closing sales in psychology class. Even the Bobcat Mattress logo was created on a napkin while sitting in a MSU class by Alonzo. His art background has always come in handy even with a retail business. After class he would run deliveries or bring the showroom to his customers that had discovered the new Bobcat Mattress business. His passion is as strong as ever to help those in need of better sleep or wanting furniture for their home.
In February 2020 Bobcat Mattress began their evolution of business to become Bobcat Home Furnishings Co. This involved moving and remodeling a 32,200 square foot location a mile down the street from where they had been in a 3,800 square foot location for 8 years. This led Bobcat opening up their new location during the pandemic at the end of April 2020. Not only did the existing team members move with the business but many more important team members have since joined. Here today you will find Bobcat Home Furnishings Co. team leading the way in the state for retail departments in mattress, bedding, furniture, flooring and appliances. Every day is an exciting day at Bobcat with new and cutting edge products and services. They provide an elevated retail experience that is second to none in the US for their industry. This new growth has brought so many opportunities to help our customers find one place to buy all their home furnishing needs with a team they can trust. They are making waves and are excited to share with all of our previous customers and future clients their passion and expertise with anyone they meet.
Alonzo and his brothers have since moved on from being partners to huge allies in the valley as well as his sister. They have since started Xtreme Carpet Cleaning/ Construction + Restoration, Oba Cafe, Aspire Real Estate and Next Home Destination Real Estate. Bobcat Home Furnishings Co. feels like the journey has still just begun and will continue to grow for years to come. The future is bright and they are all excited to share what they can do for you and your families.
